You should, however, be mindful of making your web presences part of a domain you control. If you would like to map a subdomain and have not yet created it, use\u00a0<a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/support\/cpanel\/creating-subdomains\" href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/#setting-up-subdomains\" rel=\"nofollow\">this tutorial on creating subdomains<\/a>\u00a0before proceeding. To map your domain, or a subdomain, to Tumblr, use these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"level1\">\n<div class=\"li\">To get started you&#8217;ll need to login to your control panel by logging into <a href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/dashboard\" target=\"_blank\">domains.skidmore.edu\/dashboard<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/dashboard.001.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-270\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-270\" src=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/dashboard.001-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"dashboard.001\" width=\"648\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Here you&#8217;ll login with you Skidmore username\u00a0and password.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sign-in.001.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-271\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-271\" src=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/sign-in.001-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"sign in.001\" width=\"648\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Once logged in you&#8217;ll be at the homepage of your control panel. The easiest way to navigate the cPanel is using the search feature in the top right panel. Click the\u00a0<strong>Search box<\/strong>\u00a0and type \u201c<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u201d (without the quotes). As you type, the cPanel page will begin to narrow down results. Find and click on\u00a0<strong>Advanced\u00a0<abbr title=\"Domain Name System\">DNS<\/abbr>\u00a0Zone Editor<\/strong>\u00a0to continue.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DNS.001.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-343\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-343\" src=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/DNS.001-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"DNS.001\" width=\"648\" height=\"365\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Find the domain, or subdomain, you want to map to Tumblr in the list of\u00a0<strong>Zone File Records<\/strong>. Under the\u00a0<strong>Action<\/strong>\u00a0column, click\u00a0<strong>Edit<\/strong>.\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mediacenter\" src=\"https:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/support\/_media\/domain-management\/tumblr_domain_edit.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Leave the Name, and TTL fields set to their defaults. Update the\u00a0<strong>Type<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down menu to\u00a0<strong>CNAME<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>Address<\/strong>\u00a0field to\u00a0<strong>domains.tumblr.com<\/strong>. Click\u00a0<strong>Edit Record<\/strong>\u00a0when you are done.\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mediacenter\" src=\"https:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/support\/_media\/domain-management\/edit_record.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Visit the Tumblr website, and login with your Tumblr username and password.\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mediacenter\" src=\"https:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/support\/_media\/domain-management\/tumblr.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">After logging in, click the Tumblr\u00a0<strong>Settings<\/strong>\u00a0icon.<a href=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/tumblr.001.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-364 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/domains.skidmore.edu\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/tumblr.001-e1460745954904-1024x540.jpeg\" alt=\"tumblr.001\" width=\"648\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">For the Tumblog you&#8217;d like to use under the\u00a0<strong>Username<\/strong>\u00a0click the pencil icon to edit these settings.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"level0\">\n<div class=\"li\">Check the\u00a0<strong>Use a custom domain<\/strong>\u00a0checkbox.
