Mapping your domain is an important part of domains.skidmore.edu; it reinforces the idea that you don’t necessary need to host all your own applications. You should, however, be mindful of making your web presences part of a domain you control. If you would like to map a subdomain and have not yet created it, use\u00a0this tutorial on creating subdomains<\/a>\u00a0before proceeding. To map your domain, or a subdomain, to Tumblr, use these steps:<\/p>\n

    To get started you’ll need to login to your control panel by logging into domains.skidmore.edu\/dashboard<\/a>.\u00a0\"dashboard.001\"<\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Here you’ll login with you Skidmore username\u00a0and password.\u00a0\"sign<\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Once logged in you’ll be at the homepage of your control panel. The easiest way to navigate the cPanel is using the search feature in the top right panel. Click the\u00a0Search box<\/strong>\u00a0and type \u201cDNS<\/abbr>\u201d (without the quotes). As you type, the cPanel page will begin to narrow down results. Find and click on\u00a0Advanced\u00a0DNS<\/abbr>\u00a0Zone Editor<\/strong>\u00a0to continue.\u00a0\"DNS.001\"<\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Find the domain, or subdomain, you want to map to Tumblr in the list of\u00a0Zone File Records<\/strong>. Under the\u00a0Action<\/strong>\u00a0column, click\u00a0Edit<\/strong>.\u00a0\"\"<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Leave the Name, and TTL fields set to their defaults. Update the\u00a0Type<\/strong>\u00a0drop-down menu to\u00a0CNAME<\/strong>, and the\u00a0Address<\/strong>\u00a0field to\u00a0domains.tumblr.com<\/strong>. Click\u00a0Edit Record<\/strong>\u00a0when you are done.\u00a0\"\"<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Visit the Tumblr website, and login with your Tumblr username and password.\u00a0\"\"<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    After logging in, click the Tumblr\u00a0Settings<\/strong>\u00a0icon.\"tumblr.001\"<\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    For the Tumblog you’d like to use under the\u00a0Username<\/strong>\u00a0click the pencil icon to edit these settings.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    Check the\u00a0Use a custom domain<\/strong>\u00a0checkbox. Type the name of the domain or subdomain you want to map to Tumblr into the box, then click\u00a0Test your domain<\/strong>.\u00a0\"tumblr<\/a><\/div>\n<\/li>\n

    If your domain mapping was successful, you’ll see a message that your domain is now pointing to Tumblr. Click the\u00a0Save<\/strong>\u00a0button before leaving the page.
